Boarding for the Stars
For Chanel, a digital split-flap display was custom-created to evoke the nostalgic feeling of a train station departure board, but with a twist — each “destination” presented was a celestial, almost ethereal, representation of Chanel’s iconic product lines. Developed using Blender, the video simulated the rhythmic motion of the traditional split-flap system, while showcasing a universe of Chanel products as constellations in the sky — each one a star, guiding the guests through the rich heritage and timeless allure of the brand.
The technical challenge lay in capturing the charm of the mechanical split-flap movement while integrating it into a fully digital interface.

For the installation at Chanel most iconic boutique, we created a digital split-flap board that captures the simplicity and elegance of Chanel’s aesthetic, while evoking the nostalgic charm of traditional train station departure boards.
Designed, meticulously crafted and develloped, the video to mimic the motion and cadence of the mechanical split-flap system, replicating the familiar flipping of each card. The challenge was to ensure that the digital video conveyed the authentic feel of the physical display, with each transition between destinations and product names appearing seamlessly, as if the cards were flipping in real-time.
